Mojito Smoothie

I made a smoothie yesterday that was the best I've made yet! It tasted like a mojito (without the rum and sugar of course)

1 Cucumber
20 Blueberries
7 Mint leaves
small amount of choopped Ginger
1/2 cup of Coconut Juice

I'm going to try it with Zucchini today!

POWER

POWER BOOST

Drink this at least 15 minutes before eating.

1 tart organic apple, unpeeled, quartered and chopped
3-5 scrubbed, unpeeled organic carrots, chopped
2 clean stalks of organic kale, stems removed

Juice according to manufacturer's directions for your juicer. Drink juice immediately. Yes, it is the color of your lawn, but it's pleasant tasting, loaded with nutrients, and packed with power. You'll see.

Energy Smooooooothie

Energizing Smoothie

This is my favorite energizing smoothie. It is delicious!

1/2 Cup Filtered Water
1/4 of a Whole Pineapple, peeled and cut into pieces
10 Strawberries
1 Mango, peeled and cut into pieces
1 Banana
3 Ice Cubes

Process in a blender until creamy.

Today I have done a better job at staying raw. I tend to get snack happy towards evening, so we will see how tonight goes. I am going grocery shopping after looking at different websites for recipes! I'm excited to try some of them out! My energy level started off really low this morning, but has raised to what I would say a 5.

They say a happy, healthy person that eats right shouldn't get sick...well my friends..this is so true to my life. When ever I go on these binges of eating bad, I tend to feel sick..my throat was hurting this last night..so I know, it's back to Jessica taking care of herself! I have been taking my Vit-C's and reg. Vit..and have already felt an improvement. I also hopped on the treadmill and did a hefty 45 min! That got the blood pump'n! (don't worry..mostly walking..but still counts!!!!)

Well, I realized that if you are running late and have to work, it's almost impossible to eat RAW on the run. Haven't eaten anything raw today, veggie sammy, some hard candies (thanks to the waiting room at my work) and herbal tea. I am almost craving a energy packed smoothie!

Energy level today is a 5

Mentally I am low too, a 4

Physically I am feeling really cold and tired 4

I will check in later to see if this improves after some fresh fruit, veggies, and some hot water!!

Struggle

Let's start with last night....I ate mostly raw for the first part of the day, and then had spaghetti with the fam at night. Although it was mostly all organic, it wasn't raw & I did throw in some garlic bread :( But giving myself a break...I was once told by another raw enthusiast to start of slow..making a complete switch can feel very overwhelming..which is where I feel.

Today I started of with apple and peanut butter, then was starving and ended up having a sandwich and some baked chips....this is where I start feeling overwhelmed. I'm not afraid of sticking anything in the juicer, but am needing recipes and ideas for eating raw meals. Reading Kasey's blog everyday has helped already. I'm starting to make a grocery list of raw foods, to stock the fridge with (it's running really low on fruits and veggies). I'm thinking in investing in a cookbook as well..I need a simple one that isn't overwhelming, as I am a beginner cook to begin with!

My energy level has increased already since yesterday. Starting to switch even slightly has already made an impact. I rated myself at a 4. My goal is to keep working towards eating completely raw!

Keep sending me food ideas of meals...salads are only fun for 1 meal a day :)..I need more options!

Oh and before I go...word to the wise..I made a juice yesterday and put 2 stalks of celery..WOWY that was way too much..it made my juice taste like a salty celery Bloody Mary! Yikes!

Kasey (Second Post)

Finished yesterday with a mix of foods like pumpkin seeds and almonds (unsoaked) a mix of bean sprouts, sprouted tofu, mushrooms, and peanut sauce. Then I made an arugula and lemon blended drink that was nutty and delish.

Had tons of energy yesterday (7)

My mental state improved as the day went on (6) as it usually does, I'm a night owl.

My physical level was at an (8) i'd say, I made it through a walk to school, to the gym in the snow, work out, pilates class, then walked back in the snow. I was sweating through my stocking cap! Down side to this, I kinda had B.O all day :) Pick is of me in all my xmas swag, but the facial expression denotes the energy level I had yesterday!

Started today with a carrot, lemon, spinach, ginger mix in the blender!

Kasey (First Post)

Hello!

We are going to try this whole RAW thing out because it just sounds amazing for your mind and body! I am excited to try it not only for myself, but to also report on how challenging (price, availability, legit organics) it is to buy whole organic produce in somewhat rural Iowa, woot woot.

Today I woke up and mixed up last nights leftover salad, some raspberries, lemon grass, lemon, ginger and some avocado in the blender. Didn't taste the greatest, but I gulped it down while watching the birds compete for a peg on my bird feeder. Great energy to start the day though.

I'd say a 7 on the energy scale

Mentally I felt a little slow on the uptake (4) tough to focus and read today, got dropped off at my house after a meeting so I think I will walk to campus to get the blood pumping.

Hope Maylee turns the decibels down as the day goes on my love!

Starting out! Day 1-Jessica

Today is Feb. 1, 2010...the start of a healthy new month. I am going to use this space to blog about the journey of starting to eat raw..here I will document feelings, both physical and mental, that attribute with my new lifestyle change.

Here is my scale that I will be using: 1-10...1-Poor & 10-Excellent

Physical Rating-3...I woke up feeling sluggish, tired, and swollen from all the processed foods I ate this past weekend.
Mental Rating-3...Not fully alert....having a harder time getting motivated....
Energy Rating-3...low energy ..almost lazy feeling

Looking for superfood juicing recipes! Going to wrap it up for now, Maylee is a screaming machine today :)
